At the Dallas Psychic Fair, I am excited to offer readings inspired by Vedic Astrology using the Nakshatra Oracle Deck.  In addition to the planets and signs, this deck features the 27 Nakshatras or “lunar mansions” which are unique to Vedic Astrology.  These are groups of stars in our galaxy which elegantly tie together the signs of the zodiac.  They also add layers of meaning to a reading which allows for a deeper understanding of your true spiritual nature. 

After the fair, if you are intrigued by the card reading and want to go deeper into your Vedic chart, I am available for readings either in person at my studio in East Dallas, or via Zoom (see more below).

I am also happy to do tarot readings which can offer guidance and insight into past, present or future situations.  My decks are well loved, as I have been using them for decades, and reading tarot is both a joy and a comfort for me.

About Me

I’m Lavanga, a native Texan who, at around the age of 8, began questioning the religious construct I was born into.  Drawn to natural healing, during my teen years I became fascinated with living a vegetarian lifestyle and I practiced yoga in my bedroom.  At 18, I began studying herbalism, Western astrology, crystal healing, and tarot.  At the urging of my tarot mentor, I started reading professionally in 1987.  Since then, my spiritual and professional lives have been intertwined. 

In the 1990s, I became a Reiki Master and massage therapist, eventually going deeper into healing the body/mind/spirit through Shiatsu, Thai massage, Ayurveda, aromatherapy, biofield tuning, and becoming a registered yoga teacher. 

I was initiated into a 5,000 year old Bhakti yoga lineage and in 2005 became a practicing priestess in this tradition.  Since 2011 I have been offering classes in the Bhagavad Gita and other ancient yoga texts, leading kirtan (musical mantra meditation), officiating Vedic fire ceremonies and representing my tradition in interfaith communities.

In 2018, my interest in yoga, Ayurveda and the philosophy they are based on led me to find my latest passion – Vedic Astrology.  In 2022 I became certified by the American Academy of Vedic Art & Science.  Also known as Jyotish (the science of light) this practice allows me to utilize all of the knowledge and skills I have acquired over the past 35+ years in an exciting way which I am thrilled to share.

More about Vedic Astrology

If you’ve read “Autobiography of a Yogi,” then you’ve read about Vedic Astrology.  Also known as Jyotish – “the science of light,” Vedic astrology’s roots lie in the same ancient texts from India which birthed its sister sciences of spiritual healing – Yoga and Ayurveda. 

When understood and used properly, Vedic astrology has frameworks in which layers of meanings can be added.  This can reveal details which make for very specific, rich, dynamic and precise interpretations and predictions. 

It can help us dive deep into understanding the true, authentic self.  We can explore how to live your best life on Earth, as well as incorporating the foundational spiritual concepts which lie at the core of Vedic astrology:

• We incarnate to learn we are not a mind/body phenomenon
• We are not limited beings of time and space, but are infinite and without boundaries
• Issues arise when the limited self is imposed on the deeper infinite self
• Struggles are wake up calls to force us to look for deeper meaning
